Re-Play Review

Disclosure: I received the divided plates, utensils and drinking cups from Re-Play for review and they are also providing a set for the giveaway. All opinions are my own.

I have been using Re-Play divided plates for some time. It was actually my mother who turned me on to the plates as she had purchased some off Amazon to use for when the kids were over at her house. I noticed the quality was great and thought I would purchase a set for myself. I haven’t looked back since!

All their products are made from recycled milk jugs and are manufactured, assembled and tested in the US. In learning about the company, they strive to fulfill what they call their  “5 Tenets of Responsibility”: Sustainability, Safety, Durability, Functionality, and Affordability. I want to talk a little about all of these.

Sustainability

This one is obvious; the fact that their plates are made from recycled milk jugs is a given. Also, since they are manufactured, assembled and tested in the US cuts down on the global carbon footprint. More specifically, their recycling plant is in North Carolina and their molding plant is in Florida, which is withing 150 miles from their warehouse and packaging is 20 miles away. The total miles Re-Play’s products travel (for production) is 940miles, whereas goods made in China travel 12,000 miles.

So they’re not only green in the materials they use for their products, but also in how they produce them as well.

Safety

The source plastic is specially selected and cleaned to meet FDA’s purity samples, and then they also have a third party test each finished product line in each color as well to make sure it meets FDA’s requirements for food contact.

Durability

I would suggest if you can, to check out one of these plates in person. These plates are thick. I haven’t tried this, but Re-Play claims that they can run over one of the divided plates with a car without causing any damage. I like my plates too much to test it, so I’ll take their word for it, but I believe it.

They are dishwasher safe, and the colors do not fade. I can attest to that! I’ve even washed my plates on the bottom rack, where most companies will suggest top rack only, and they are in perfect condition.

Functionality

The no-spill valve really is “no-spill”. I have other cups that claim to be no spill and they inevitably develop leaks. I feel safe putting these cups in my Ju-Ju-Be diaper bag because they’ve been through my son throwing them, dropping them, flipping them and not a drop has come out. Not. One. Drop.

It is also so easy to clean the valve. It actually pops on and off very easily and there is no place for things to hide. I easily unscrew the lid and take off the valve to place all pieces in my dishwasher to clean without having to break out any little brushes.

Their spoons are some of the nicest I’ve found for my baby. They are like shovels. He just recently started using utensils comfortably. For a while there he was having issues “shoveling” the food onto his spoon, and since I got this set, he seems more at ease using his utensils. I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence, but I think it actually the shape of these spoons helped him learn to use a spoon correctly.

 Affordability

Honestly, you can’t beat their price considering the quality. A 3-pack of divided plates retails for $7.99 and so does a 2-pack of their magnificent spill-proof cups. Lesser quality cups sell for more, and I know because I’ve gone through them.

Where to buy

All of their products can be purchased online thru Amazon or at http://www.shop.re-play.com. They can also be found at Whole Foods, Kroger, Wal-Mart, and various specialty shops and grocers around the country. You can use their store locator to find them at a local store.
